DIGITALWAX

The inspirational resource journal digitalWAX began in 2007 to document the transition from traditional to digital sculpture. This new website will continue the Journal and expand upon the foundations it set. Adding a Portfolio of personal and client work, both 2D and 3D, with much more to follow. 

 

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Wayne Taylor is a Freelance Artist based in Newcastle Upon Tyne. UK.

In January of 2008 Wayne set up WAYNE TAYLOR DESIGN as a freelance Character Design and Sculpting Service. 

Prior to this Wayne spent a ten year stint as Head Sculptor / Workshop Manager at Piranha Studios. Supplying original sculpts for a vast array of Character based models (including the seemingly never ending line of Bad Taste Bears.) During this time a short spell working abroad with studios in Hong Kong and Mainland China. 

Beginning his career as a sculptor at Prelude Worldwide, where he worked upon most major Character Brands such as: Family Guy, Cow & Chicken, The Simpsons, Taz, Mickey Mouse, The Mr Men. For clients including:

 

  • Disney 
  • Warner Brothers
  • Nickelodeon 
  • Cartoon Network

 

Wayne is currently learning Digital Sculpting techniques using Maya and ZBrush. With an ambition to utilise cutting edge technologies such as 3D printing and combine this with his traditionally honed skills.
